Seek: Destruction or Delight

Amos 5:18-6:14

The Day of the Lord will either be a day of destruction or a day of delight it all depends upon what you devote your life too.


Discussion Starter:

  • Share a story of when things did not turn out like you thought they would.


Read Amos 5:18-6:14:

  • What words/phrases/concepts stand out to you?
  • What questions do you have regarding the text?
  • If you could sum up the passage in one phrase, what would you say?

Empty Religion vs Authentic Relationship (5:18-27):

  • Why do you think the people in Amos’ time misunderstood the Day of the Lord?
  • What was so empty about the religion of the people in Amos’ time?
  • Do you see “empty religion” today? What does empty religion look like today?
  • What does it mean to have an authentic relationship with God?
  • How can you be authentic in your relationship with God?
